An Afternoon with Patricia Wade

Please join us for a friendly afternoon with Patricia Wade.  Patricia was born in Palmer, Alaska and is a Tribal citizen of the Chickaloon Native Village.  She continues her mother's (Katherine Wade) legacy of preserving the Ahtna language and telling their ancient stories that have been passed down through their ancestors.   Patricia will be here at the Palmer Museum of History and Art on Friday, May 25th to present historical information about the Ahtna Athabascans of Chickaloon Village and to lead a storytelling session.  She will be giving presentations at 12:00pm, 2:00pm, and 4:00pm which will allow visitors ample opportunity to meet her and learn more about our Chickaloon neighbors.  Light refreshments will be served.

Upcycle: The Art of Recycling

In conjunction with Palmer Clean Sweep Day on May 12, 2012, the Palmer Museum of History and Art and the Palmer Public Library are working together to create Upcycle: The Art of Recycling.  This exhibit is designed to illustrate the concept that beauty can be found in the most unusual of places.  It is our goal to educate the public about the rewards of recycling while incorporating art.  The library will be hosting two recycled art sessions for the younger members in our community on May 1st, between 10:30 - 12:00 PM and 2:00 - 4:00 PM.  Their artworks will accompany the submissions we receive at the museum, thus making it a community exhibit.  The exhibit will be on display from May 7th through June 4th with an artist reception on Saturday, May 12th from 2:00PM - 5:00PM.  If you are interested in participating in this event please contact the museum.
